Dubai removed from UK travel corridor as thousands told they must isolate from tomorrow

Anyone returning from the United Arab Emirates must quarantine

Dubai has been removed from the UK travel corridor as thousands are now being told to isolate when they return. Anyone currently out in the United Arab Emirates will have to quarantine on return to England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland following a rise in Covid-19 cases. Previously, people have been able to travel freely between the destination and the UK, but from 4am on Tuesday the rules will be changing.

The UK Department of Transport made the announcement on Monday evening via the Foreign Office on Twitter.

On the government website, the FCDO said: "The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the whole of the United Arab Emirates based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.

"If you are returning to Scotland from the remainder of the UAE on or after 4am on 12 January, you will need to self-isolate on your return.”

UAE sees a lot of travellers from the UK, especially for business trips.
